Gareth Buckley- FABRP MIPA FMAAT

Head of Insolvency & Licensed Insolvency Practitioner

Gareth’s career began in debt recovery, where he also gained qualifications in accountancy and insolvency, before qualifying as a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner in 2014.

Gareth co-founded The Insolvency Company, building it into a respected and client-focused practice before becoming part of Monahans in 2024. Gareth specialises in helping businesses navigate financial challenges, offering practical insolvency advice and strategies to protect and restructure where possible. Gareth is passionate about finding solutions that allow businesses to survive and thrive.

Gareth is a member of the Insolvency Practitioners Association (IPA) and The Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3). He is also a Fellow of The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT). Outside of work, Gareth is an active member of Taunton Round Table, regularly raising money for local charities through community events.

Steve Elliott – MIPA

Partner & Licensed Insolvency Practitioner

Steve is a highly experienced Insolvency Practitioner with over 30 years of expertise in helping clients overcome financial difficulties and achieve the best possible outcomes. He works with both individuals and businesses, providing clear, practical advice tailored to each situation.

His work covers a wide range of solutions, including turnaround management, restructuring strategies, formal insolvency appointments (such as liquidation, administration, bankruptcy and IVAs), as well as Members’ Voluntary Liquidations (MVLs) and solvent winding-ups. Steve has particular expertise in helping clients achieve tax-efficient exits when closing or selling a business.

A long-standing member of the Insolvency Practitioners Association (IPA) and R3, Steve is known for his pragmatic approach and for guiding clients with reassurance and clarity through often challenging circumstances.

Stephanie Buckley – BA (Hons), PGCE, MBA, CMgr FCMI

Partner

Stephanie co-founded The Insolvency Company alongside Gareth and is an experienced business advisory specialist. After studying Business at university and completing an MBA at the University of Exeter, she built her career supporting start-ups and growth-focused organisations through advisory roles. During this time, she developed expertise in business planning, strategy, coaching, and business development.

Stephanie enjoys getting to know her clients’ stories and using these relationships as a platform for fresh ideas that can help. Alongside her expertise in insolvency, she is also a qualified teacher and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) trainer, utilising these skills to help individuals and business owners set meaningful goals, enhance communication, and stay motivated to achieve long-term success.

Paul Beecham

Senior Manager

Paul joined The Insolvency Company in 2021, bringing with him over 30 years of expertise in both personal and corporate insolvency. He began his career at The Insolvency Service in London before moving to a mid-tier insolvency practice. In 1991, he joined a Big Four firm, where he focused on insolvent liquidations and bankruptcies, before gaining further experience across firms of all sizes.

As Senior Manager, Paul works with clients on a wide range of insolvency matters, including bankruptcy, Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVAs), Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidations (CVLs), Members’ Voluntary Liquidations (MVLs), and Compulsory Winding-Up orders. He also provides proactive advice on debt management and cash flow, helping clients avoid formal insolvency proceedings where possible.

Alison Dickinson

Insolvency Case Manager

Alison manages a varied caseload at The Insolvency Company, specialising in Members’ Voluntary Liquidations (MVLs) while also supporting colleagues with Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidations (CVLs).

She began her insolvency career in 1999 as a trainee, initially working on CVLs and bankruptcies, and achieved the Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency (CPI) in 2001. Since 2015, Alison has focused primarily on solvent liquidations, establishing herself as the team’s “MVL Queen.” Over the past seven years, she has successfully completed around 400 MVLs.

Alison enjoys guiding clients from all walks of life through MVLs, helping them manage what is often both an emotional and transitional stage with clarity and reassurance.

Alison holds the Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency (CPI) qualification.

Kayleigh Bryant

Insolvency Manager

Kayleigh joined The Insolvency Company in November 2024 as Insolvency Manager, where she oversees case progression and manages the team’s workload. She began her insolvency career in 2010 as a trainee at a large firm, gaining extensive experience across both corporate and personal insolvency cases.

She has a particular interest in insolvent liquidations and is highly experienced in director disqualification (CDDA) investigations. Kayleigh enjoys supporting directors through challenging situations and finds it especially rewarding to ease some of the pressure during difficult times.

Kayleigh holds both the Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency (CPI) and the AAT Level 4 qualification.

Charlotte Turnbull – BA (Hons)

Business Development Manager

Charlotte joined the team in March 2024. In her role as Business Development Manager, she builds and maintains relationships with clients and introducers, using her experience in account management, marketing, project management and operational support.

In addition to relationship management, Charlotte drives lead generation and account management initiatives, develops marketing strategies, and implements engaging content across social media and the company website, helping to raise the profile of the business and support growth.

Monika Szpak

Insolvency Team and Case Manager

Monika specialises in Members’ Voluntary Liquidations (MVLs) at The Insolvency Company, managing cases from start to finish to ensure a smooth, efficient process in full compliance with statutory requirements.

Before joining the insolvency profession, Monika successfully ran her own small business. Experiencing the challenges of closure during the pandemic gave her first-hand insight into the difficulties businesses can face, inspiring her transition into insolvency.

In her role, Monika supports the team and ensures all reporting and documentation meet regulatory standards. Her areas of expertise include solvent liquidations and guiding directors through the process of closing their companies.

Monika holds both the Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency (CPI) and the AAT Level 2 qualification.

Craig Nieland

Assistant Manager

Craig has over 20 year’s experience in insolvency, starting his career in 2000 as a Customer Service Adviser for a large debt management company. He moved into corporate insolvency in 2007, helping to establish a boutique insolvency practice, before gaining further experience at a nationwide firm in 2015 and a smaller practice in 2021.

Throughout his career, Craig has specialised in Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidations (CVLs) and has developed expertise in the manufacturing and care sectors.

As Assistant Manager at The Insolvency Company, Craig provides initial advice to directors and individuals on their financial circumstances. He manages a varied caseload, predominantly focused on liquidations and some administrations, while also supporting and training junior team members.

Cecile Cacho – BA

Insolvency Case Manager

Cecile is a Case Manager at The Insolvency Company, specialising in corporate insolvency with a particular focus on liquidations and investigations. She began her career in administrative roles, including executive assistant positions, where she applied her multilingual skills, before moving into insolvency in 2020.

Cecile enjoys supporting directors through the process of closing their companies, often providing reassurance during what can be a challenging time. She also values being part of a collaborative and supportive team.

Her key areas of interest include corporate insolvency and Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidation (CVL) investigations.

Cecile holds both the Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency (CPI) and the AAT Level 3 qualification.

Ruth Buckley

Insolvency Senior Administrator

Ruth is a Case Administrator at The Insolvency Company, managing a portfolio of Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidation (CVL) cases. With a background in Greater Manchester Police, she brings valuable investigative skills that prove highly effective in insolvency work.

Ruth enjoys being part of a collaborative and supportive team, where knowledge-sharing is encouraged, and finds it rewarding to see cases progress to completion. She has a particular interest in the investigative side of insolvency, applying her attention to detail to uncover and resolve complex issues.

One of Ruth’s recent achievements was closing a CVL within just twelve months, which is a significant accomplishment in this area of insolvency.

Dulcimer Thompson – BA MA

Insolvency Administrator

Dulcimer has worked in the insolvency industry since 2021. In her role as Insolvency Administrator, she supports senior team members across a variety of cases and enjoys the people-focused nature of insolvency work. Before starting her career, Dulcimer studied Classics and Ancient History at the University of Reading, completing both her undergraduate and Master’s degrees with a focus on language, gender studies and complex systems analysis.

Dulcimer works across Members’ Voluntary Liquidations (MVLs), Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidations (CVLs) and Compulsory Liquidations. She values getting to know clients and learning about their businesses, supporting them through what can often be a challenging time. She particularly enjoys the balance of law and accounting within insolvency, and the opportunity to focus on people’s stories as well as the numbers.

Sam Kirk – BSc (Hons)

Insolvency Administrator and Automation Engineer

Sam is an Insolvency Administrator and Automation Engineer, supporting the Insolvency Practitioner throughout the insolvency process. Alongside this, he develops and assesses software tools to improve business systems and efficiency.

Before joining the team, Sam worked as a Software Engineer, building applications, AI models, and data systems for clients including the Oslo Metro and MINI. He enjoys problem-solving and takes pride in leaving things better than he found them, whether that’s streamlining processes or helping clients.

Annabel Forrest

Insolvency Cashier

Annabel is an experienced business banking and customer service professional with a passion for health and wellbeing. She has supported clients across both corporate and small business environments, holding roles at Santander Business Bank, in education, and within private enterprise. Having successfully run her own business, she brings first-hand insight into the challenges her clients face and a strong understanding of their needs.

Known for her warm, proactive approach, Annabel is committed to delivering exceptional customer service and building trusted relationships. She enjoys taking the time to understand people’s stories and providing support that makes a meaningful difference.

Theo Austin

Insolvency Administrator

Theo is an Insolvency Administrator responsible for maintaining accurate case records, drafting reports and correspondence, and supporting senior staff, while ensuring compliance with insolvency legislation and best practices.

Having transitioned from a career in logistics, Theo was drawn to insolvency by the real impact it has on people, from jobs and pensions to the wider community. He enjoys the balance between problem-solving and communication, as well as the variety each case brings.

Particularly interested in insolvent liquidations and the investigative work they involve.

In his previous career, Theo successfully managed the day-to-day operations of a medium-sized defence contract. An achievement that developed his resilience, client relationship skills, and ability to thrive under pressure.

The Insolvency Company is a fully licensed Insolvency Practice offering debt advice. Our in-house Insolvency Practitioners are licensed to act as Insolvency Practitioners in the UK by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW).

Memberships and associations

ICAEW is the largest insolvency regulator in the UK. They are considered a leader in the accountancy and finance profession due to their robust qualification programmes, expert technical knowledge and the wide ranging senior roles their members hold.

The Insolvency Practitioners Association (IPA) are a membership body recognised for the purposes of authorising (licensing) Insolvency Practitioners (IPs) under the Insolvency Act 1986. They are the only one of the recognised bodies that focus solely on insolvency.

The Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3) is active in raising awareness with individuals and businesses on the key benefits in obtaining financial advice and providing greater information to wider audiences.
